Next Steps

Community Consultation

Community Engagement for the Proposed Project is based around engaging with the local community in an open, honest, and transparent manner with the aim to not only provide clear and understandable information but also to gain feedback to understand the views of the local community. A community liaison officer (CLO) has been appointed, who will be the point of contact with the local community. The CLO will call to each house within a 1.5km radius of the windfarm site and will provide information, including a summary of the proposed project. This information will include contact details for any member of the community who would like further information on the project.

This door-to-door visit will be followed up later in the year by an information event in a local community hall/venue where MKO and AIR personnel will be available to discuss the project with the community, supported up by printed and digital maps/reports, etc to explain the project.

Upon completion of the EIAR, Killoshulan Renewable Energy Limited hope to submit a planning application before the end of the year to An Coimisiún Pleanála. The application will include:

•     Application forms and public notices

•     Planning drawings

•     Environmental Impact Assessment Report

•     Natura Impact Statement

Notification of the intention to lodge this application will be placed in relevant newspapers. Once submitted, all planning application documents and drawings will be available for viewing in the offices of An Coimisiún Pleanála and Kilkenny County Council. The information will also be available to view online on their websites and on the project website below, it usually takes a few days for the information to be uploaded.

Killoshulan Renewable Energy Limited will provide updates on the projects progress through the Killoshulan Wind Farm website, including the date of lodgement of application.

Following lodgement of the application, members of the community can make submissions to the planning authority during the assigned public consultation period. Killoshulan Renewable Energy Limited will continue to be available to discuss any individual queries in relation to the application.
